As of January 1, 2025, Schneider Schreibgeräte GmbH will acquire the esteemed Peter Bock AG in Heidelberg, renowned for its expertise in nibs and complete writing systems. Following intensive negotiations, the acquisition was notarized on November 5, 2024.

This acquisition ensures Schneider's independence in producing a crucial component for fountain pens. Just as the tip is the heart of a ballpoint pen, the nib or writing system is essential for a fountain pen.

For many years, Schneider's management has deliberated on how to internally develop the production of this vital component, similar to the tips, to control both the required quantities and quality. The opportunity to close this gap through acquisition has now arisen, concluding the discussion and providing a clear solution.

The Peter Bock AG family has not been operationally active in the business for years but sought to place the company in qualified hands, ensuring the continuation of the business at the Heidelberg location and preserving jobs for the employees.

Peter Bock AG employs about 40 people at its Heidelberg location, with production and administrative areas covering approximately 3,000 m², including its own toolmaking facilities. The legal independence of Peter Bock AG will be maintained, but the company will be integrated into the Schneider Group.

Peter Bock is a specialized supplier of nibs and complete writing systems. The nibs are crafted from materials such as stainless steel, gold, platinum, palladium, and titanium, with various surface finishes and individual grips, all in traditional handcrafted "Made in Germany" quality. Both companies share similarities in philosophy and operational standards. Production is focused on high quality and precision, leading to significant alignment in fundamental principles and practices. Therefore, Schneider will benefit from the extensive knowledge and experience accumulated at Peter Bock AG over the years.

The founding times of both companies are also similar. Peter Bock was founded in 1939, while Schneider was established in 1938.

Existing customer relationships and supplier structures will be maintained, and positive synergies are expected on both sides.

Thus, the locations in Schramberg, Wernigerode, and Heidelberg have the best prospects for a successful economic future.
